Shadows Over Innsmouth

I got some money for Christmas, and spent a bit of it on books. One of those books is an epic horror anthology entitled Shadows Over Innsmouth.

Cover art by John Jude Palencar.

The quintessential Lovecraftian anthology, Shadows Over Innsmouth is based around H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." Authors have taken that tale and set their own horror stories in the decaying backwater city of Dagon. Innsmouth is a blasphemous place, held in the grip of a cult that is known as the Esoteric Order of Dagon - which worships the fish-frog-people-like Deep Ones.

Chilly after a swim near Devil's Reef? The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society has a jacket and a hoodie that one can wear after playing in the temples of Dagon!

Many authors contribute to this collection. It is one of a three volume series consisting of:

  • Shadows Over Innsmouth
  • Weird Shadows Over Innsmouth
  • Weirder Shadows Over Innsmouth
Not very creative titles, eh?

Still, the Shadows Over Innsmouth stories are very much worth the $14. Definitely a good one, folks.

[Goodness me, all my posts lately have been Lovecraftian! Well, at one point you were really into Dracula, then Phantom of the Opera, then Poe...they will all have a very good place in your head now...perhaps Lovecraft is on his way there! Remember, your favorite author is Poe, your favorite musical is Phantom, your favorite book is Dracula, and Lovecraft is a writer you hold in very high regard. There!]
