Aw, I should have just LEFT that PUTRID PUN LIE in the GRAVE.
HEY! See a SIMILARITY to ANYTHING, hmm? YES! You're RIGHT! When coming up with PLOT GERMS for the STORY, editor WILLIAM GAINES would occasionally take INSPIRATION from other works of literature: thusly, H.P. LOVECRAFT, ARTHUR MACHEN, ROBERT E. HOWARD, and others got a FACELIFT in the COMICS...and EDGAR ALLAN POE did, TOO! This one is HEAVILY INSPIRED by his GROTESQUE and REPULSIVE horror work, "THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF M. VALDEMAR"!
I'll ADMIT that this is not GRAHAM INGELS' BEST REPRESENTATION of the OLD WITCH (one of his EARLIER versions), but his ARTWORK is still STUNNING and POWERFUL in its USUAL MANNER.
BTW, I'd like to give a SNOT OUT to the CRYPTIC CORRIDOR for this CARCASS-COMIC! Got to THANK THEM for POSTING this up there! It is a STUNNING BLOG on HORROR FICTION, LITERATURE, and so on! I found "THE LIVING DEATH" on that site, but they've a (admittedly SMALL) GEM-STUDDED E.C. COMICS LIBRARY, amongst OTHER THINGS! Sure is BETTER than this BLOG, EH? HEE, HEE!
WELL! Hope you ENJOYED this PUTRID PORTION OF POST! Just wanted to pay TRIBUTE to the CLASSICS! And by CLASSICS I mean the COMICS! OH, and ONE MORE THING! SOME OF THE TEXT IS SET IN ARIAL BECAUSE THE SERIF FONT WOULD'VE BEEN A BIT MUCH FOR THE EYES!
